Indian Head Massage

An Indian head massage will energise your mind and allow tension to slip away. This ancient technique has been practised for over a thousand years in India, being passed down from generation to generation. It is both a therapeutic and beauty treatment with many wonderful benefits. Indian head massage can be given almost anywhere. The receiver remains fully clothed, seated in a chair, or can sit cross legged on the ground. It involves using a sequence of moves such as energy balancing techniques, lymphatic drainage, acupressure points, stretching and general massage to the shoulders, neck, face and scalp. The techniques work on both the physical and ethereal body with over 60 movements.

What happens during a Indian Head Massage Therapy Session ?

The recipient of the massage is normally required to be sitting in a chair relaxed.
The neck and shoulder muscles are usually the therapist's main focus at the beginning of a massage session followed by an intensive massage of the head itself.
The muscles are kneaded and probed by the therapist's fingers, the scalp and hair are worked on with rubbing and combing movements of the hands and fingers.

The Chakras

Chakra is the Sanskrit word meaning wheel or vortex. Chakras are mentioned in the ancient Hindu texts, the Vedas, dating back to 300BC. There are seven major chakras in the body. They run along the spine and correlate with certain body parts, emotions and senses. These centres help regulate our emotional and physical self. Blockages in the chakras can cause confusion, illness and emotional upset. A chakra will react by either opening up too wide to get what it needs, thereby filling up and becoming blocked or the chakra will close down to protect itself and not allow energy in. By learning how our energy centres affect us and how to clear them, we can enhance our lives.
